Trees in parks and open spaces
Trees are a very significant feature in the boroughs parks and open spaces. They provide a variety of benefits not only to visitors but to the overall environment of an area.
To ensure that trees continue to contribute to the landscape it is essential that we think about their health and safety.
The inspection and maintenance of trees within parks is the responsibility of the council’s contractors John Laing Integrated Services and Continental Landscapes. They are the council’s contractors for the overall maintenance of the all parks and open spaces. The council will ensure that the management of the trees in undertaken in accordance with best practice and legislation.
Tree Surveys
As part of our commitment to improving parks and open spaces we undertaken a comprehensive tree survey, on behalf of the London Borough of Hounslow, in order to collect information about the boroughs tree stock such as:
• Tree condition
• Tree dimensions, height, diameter, crown spread etc
• Age
• Classification – species etc
• Location
This information will then be used to inform subsequent management and maintenance programmes. These programmes will be delivered on a site by site basis and works will be undertaken to remedy any identified problems.
